strong specular reflection from a light haze

Clear, strong image of sun reflected from very light, hazy conditions over southern England at 11:33 am 3rd November 2016. Photographed from aircraft window at 18000 ft. looking south.

Water features on ground allowed precise identification of the geographic position of the scene below: A331 just east of Farnborough Green between Reading and London. The M4 is visible in the photo.

Observation of the movement of the reflected image as the aircraft advanced proved that this was not reflection from water or other reflective surface at ground level.

Radiosonde data at mid-day from the nearest reporting station shows ice forming conditions between 2km and 6km altitude.
